Vrock 4e

The vrock is a type of demon from the roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons. It resembles a vaguely humanoid vulture with a squat body, clawed hands and feet, and great feathered wings extending from its hunched back. Though they are the weakest of the tanar'ri, they still pose a great threat to mortal warriors, especially in groups.

Vrocks are dull-witted creatures that are driven by a lust for carnage and suffering. They are also petty and greedy, relishing any opportunity to seize treasures to satisfy their avarice. Though they love jewels and other shiny things, vrocks cannot be bribed. After all, why let someone live in exchange for riches when you can murder them and take what they have anyway?

Despite the tanar'ri tendency to fight recklessly, vrocks can be surprisingly well-coordinated when attacking as a group. They tend to overwhelm enemies by attacking from above, swarming their prey and tearing it apart before feasting on the remains.

Abilities[]

  • Stunning Screech - A vrock can emit a ghastly shriek that leaves foes temporarily paralyzed.
  • Resistances - Vrocks are highly resistant to elemental magics (fire, ice, lightning) as well as slashing and bludgeoning weapons that have not been magically enhanced.
  • Immunity - Vrocks cannot be affected by poison.
  • Darkvision - Vrocks can see in the dark with a range of 120 feet.
  • Telepathy - Vrocks can communicate with other beings through thought. They also speak Abyssal, the common language of demons.
  • Spores - By beating their wings, vrocks can scatter a cloud of toxic spores in a 15-foot radius, poisoning anyone who gets too close.
