Snorlax is a Normal-type Pokémon that can be found the world over. It is marked as No. 143 in the National Pokédex, though its pre-evolved form Munchlax would be discovered in Sinnoh later on.

Pokédex Data[]

Snorlax is a large mammalian Pokémon with a tall, wide body. Most of its body is covered in dark-blue fur, with cream-coloured fur covering its face, belly and feet. Its eyes are narrow and always appear closed, it sports two pointed ears atop its head and has two short fangs jutting upward from its lower lip. It has five clawed digits on each arm and three clawed toes on each foot.

Snorlax is known for two things above all else: sleeping and eating. It spends the majority of its life asleep, usually sleeping for several days straight. It only wakes up in order to eat and will devour over 900 pounds of food before going back to sleep. Snorlax is not picky about its food, either; it will eat almost anything, even rotten food, and its powerful stomach acids will digest anything easily. No matter how spoiled something might be, Snorlax will suffer no ill effects from eating it.

Lazy and docile, Snorlax tends to ignore any people or Pokémon around it. Very little can disturb its sleep and children have even been known to play upon its ponderous belly without hurting or waking it. When awake, however, Snorlax can prove to be quite hazardous to communities. It has been known to raid villages for food and is strong enough to resist most attempts to ward it off.

Moveset[]

  • Rest - When it falls asleep, Snorlax quickly recuperates from any injuries it sustained during battle.
  • Snore - While sleeping, Snorlax may emit a powerful growl that can be painful to anyone within earshot.
  • Body Slam - Snorlax crushes its opponents by falling or sitting on them.
  • Crunch - Snorlax will chew up opponents with its mighty jaws.

Gigantimax[]

Snorlax-Gigantamax

In Snorlax's Gigantimax state, seeds and stones that had previously become caught in its belly fur grow to form a garden upon its belly. Snorlax's gut becomes covered in grass and flowers and a small, fruit-bearing tree grows upon the "summit" of its belly. The tree is encircled by three red clouds.

In its Gigantimax state, Snorlax will barely move at all, apparently unable to get up off its back. It will simply flail its arms in order to attack and is capable of casting Hyper Beam from its paws. Using the G-Max ability G-Max Replenish, not only does Snorlax inflict damage upon enemies, but it will cast off the fruit growing from the tree on its belly to restore its allies' health or restock their berry supplies.
