Sharktopus is a shark/octopus hybrid genetically engineered by a group known as Blue Water. It was created for the SyFy channel movie Sharktopus, hence the name. Sharktopus was created as an experimental super-weapon. By using a device attached to Sharktopus, the scientists were able to control it's actions. In the film, the device malfuctions and is removed by Sharktopus, who goes on a rampage. Sharktopus is killed by an explosive. Sharktopus appears in a later sequel Sharktopus vs. Mermantula, where the only offspring of Sharktopus wreaks havoc forcing Ray Brady (played by Casper Van Dien) to inject himself with a experimental serum that turns him into a creature that is part human, part piranha and part tarantula. Another sequel is being planned titled Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda. This one involves the offspring of Sharktopus battling a creature that is essentially half pterodactyl and half barracuda. Sharktopus vs. Mermantula just started filming and Sharktopus vs. Pteracuda is in post-production.
Sharktopus is basically the upper half of great white shark's body combined with the lower half of a massive, greyish-pink octopus's body. He could, go on land for brief amounts of time and would use his tentacles to grab his prey.
- In the movie Sharktopus Vs Pteracuda the beginning shows an egg sack that flows down the river right after the original Sharktopus had been killed off by a explosion. This means the Sharktopus is asexual and does not need a partner to reproduce like the Megashark.
- Sharktopus is very intelligent as seen in Sharktopus Vs Peteracuda,
- The Sharktopus has been killed by explosion and electrical fried cage in a baseball park.
