The Nain Rouge ("Red Dwarf" in French) is a strange creature which calls Detroit, Michigan its home.
Description
A small being, the Nain Rouge is usually described as having red or black fur and an animal's body, but with the face of a wizened old man with "blazing red eyes and rotten teeth."
History
While the Ottawan tribe who once inhabited the region now occupied by Detroit believed the Nain Rouge to be a benevolent protector, the French immigrants who subsequently settled the area introduced the notion that it was in fact a "harbinger of doom," and feared the creature's appearances.
