The Frankenstein Monster was a humanoid monster that appeared in the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers episode "Life's a Masquerade." Created by Finster, this monster resembled the creature from Mary Shelley's Frankenstein book.
Unlike most of the monsters in the Power Rangers franchise, the Frankenstein Monster's actor did not require a full-body foam-rubber suit, merely a Frankenstein mask, makeup and drab clothing.
History[]
During Halloween, Finster created the Frankenstein Monster in order to ambush the Power Rangers at a Halloween party at the Angel Grove Youth Center. This served not only as an attempt to destroy the Rangers, but to distract them while Finster mined a special form of space-clay which he would later use to manufacture Super Putties.
At the party, the Frankenstein Monster fit right in amongst the various costumed party-goers. The Rangers don't recognise it as an actual monster, but likewise the monster cannot recognise the Rangers who are also in costume. Growing angry, it goes outside where it then attacks the bullies Bulk and Skull. It then heads to the cave where Rita Repulsa and Finster are mining the super-clay, but is followed by Billy Cranston, the Blue Ranger.
Billy morphs and battles the Frankenstein Monster, but finds himself outmatched. He calls upon the other Rangers to help, with all but Tommy Oliver arriving to back him up. In the meantime, the Green Ranger is confounded by Putties. The Rangers struggle against the creature, which is then magically enlarged by Rita, urging the Rangers to call upon their Zords to fight it. Even the Megazord had difficulty against it, until Tommy was finally able to join the battle with the Dragonzord. Using the Dragonzord's Battle Mode, the Rangers were finally able to destroy the Frankenstein Monster, but Rita got away with the super-clay.
Abilities[]
- Strength - The Frankenstein Monster possessed incredible strength and durability, making it difficult for the Rangers to damage it.
- Super Jumps - The Frankenstein Monster was able to jump several meters in the air to launch his initial attack on the Dragonzord Battle Mode.
- Red Mist - The monster could expel a cloud of gas from its mouth to choke its opponents.
- Ball and Chain - The monster wielded a metal ball attached to a chain which it would swing to inflict heavy damage on its foes.
