Ekans is a Poison-type Pokémon found across various regions. They are known to inhabit grasslands and savannas. Appropriately, this Pokémon's name is snake spelt backwards.
The Snake Pokémon Ekans is easily recognized by its long, smooth purple body and yellow rattle on the end of its tail. It also has a round tongue and no visible teeth, so it does not deliver poison through bites.
When resting, Ekans will coil itself up on the spot or wrap around trees. When it hunts, it silently slithers through tall grass to catch prey unawares. Its favourite food is the eggs of bird Pokémon such as Spearow and Pidgey.
- Wrap - Ekans binds its opponent within its coils, wearing them out as they struggle to get free.
- Bite - Though it has no fangs, Ekans' high-pressure bite can still be quite painful.
- Acid - Ekans spits a corrosive substance that burns through its victims' skin.
- Poison Sting - Ekans can spit tiny barbs from its mouth that can poison enemies.
Ekans evolves into Arbok at Level 22.
